Kouk Sun Do

국선도
Kouk Sun Do

I practice Kouk Sun Do. It's a breathing meditation of Korea.
I suddenly decided to post this up to study and better understand what I practice.

Start off by translating the name.

'Kouk' means a nation, a country, or a state.
'Sun' means a taoist hermit with miraculous powers.
'Do' means a way.

So the direct translation would be "the Korean way of becoming a taoist hermit with miraculous powers." It is a bit awkward, I apologize.

Although, it is true that if you practice 'Sun Do', you can have miraculous powers, but that is not the ultimate goal of 'Sun Do'. 'Sun Do' is referred as a mountain taoism, but what I am talking here is not taoism, rather it is 'Dan Hahk'. I will cover these topics in the future.

The plan I have is to translate three books written by 'Chung San Guh Sa' who introduced this practice in 1967. I've read all three, but I do not understand all of them. I will concentrate on literal accuracy and try my best of my ability.
